Anomaly Detection Tool

RSI has released a new module for users of its ENVI image manipulation product. It is intended to draw the attention of analysts to anomalous pixels in an image.

Extracting information from geospatial imagery is often challenging. The size of the image, and the sheer number of pixels to review can be time consuming and overwhelming. To narrow the field of interest to the areas most likely to contain important information, image analysts will often focus on areas with anomalies.

ENVI's new RX Anomaly Detection Tool helps users to identify features that are different from the overall image background.

RSI says the new tool will be useful in a wide range of applications, including the identification of locations of crop stress in agriculture applications, of infected trees for forestry applications, and rare minerals for geology applications.
